The central task of my research interest is to investigate the philosophy of existence in Western and Eastern traditions. The major theme of my research in this area is a comparative analysis of different ontologies from different times and cultural backgrounds, such as the doctrine of the primacy of being in Sadra’s [Sadradin Shirazi (1571-1640)] philosophy, and Martin Heidegger’s fundamental ontology. The similarities between the philosophical ideas of these two thinkers can be established on three assumptions: first, both Sadra and Heidegger advocate the principality of Being; second, they argue against Plato’s metaphysics; third, both thinkers hold the view that Aristotle’s logic and the system of his categories are incapable of revealing the meaning of Being.

I am also interested in analyzing Sadra’s and Heidegger’s turn (die Kehre), and evaluating the significance and impact of the philosophical ideas of these two thinkers in ending the metaphysical tradition of Platonism, described by Heidegger as ‘Nihilism’ or “the darkening of the world” and ‘essentialism’ or “the darkness of an illusion” by Sadra, in this technological era.
