Background
Sachiko Noguchi has a BA (Hons) in Japanese, a Graduate Diploma in Education (Japanese and History), and an MA in Applied Japanese Linguistics from Monash University. She has taught Japanese at tertiary institutions in Victoria prior to her appointment at the University of Melbourne.
Research Interests
Sachiko’s research interests lie in the acquisition and attrition of languages, and the early Australia-Japan relationship. Her current research includes the effects of learner background on the acquisition of Japanese as a second language and history of Japanese education in pre-war Australia.
