Background
Michael Leigh is Professor of Contemporary Asia and Director of the Aceh Research Training Institute (ARTI). His Ph.D. is from Cornell University. Previously he had been the Director, Institute of East Asian Studies at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Professor and Head of the Department of Government & Public Administration at the University of Sydney, and earlier was responsible for the Program for the Development of the Social Sciences throughout Indonesian Universities and Islamic Institutes, based in Banda Aceh and Jakarta.
Research Interests
His research interests and publications focus upon political economy, resource politics and political change in Southeast Asia, with specific reference to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Burma and Brunei.
